Here at Middlewood Nursery we have on offer a beautiful Olive Tree complete with pot, produces flowers in spring and olives in late summer.
The Olea Europea is a type of tree that is extremely popular in Spain and Italy, with our own stock having travelled all the way from Spain to bring a piece of the Mediterranean to your garden. All over Italy, the tradition of harvesting the fruits from these trees to be turned to an oil is rather commonplace. Families will shake the trees until they drop their olives to be caught in a net. These can then be cured by any number of methods (brine - curing for example), and brought to be pressed into oil. With one of our olive trees and a decent amount of salt, you too can easily cure your own olives by first storing in a pan of daily changed water for around a week, before leaving in a salt - brine solution for 3 to 6 weeks.
