The festive season has begun to dawn on us here at Middlewood, and we’ve decided to celebrate with our brand new batch of potted “Picea Pungens”, or blue spruce. These gorgeous trees boast lovely blue spines - a twist on the typical “christmas tree” - and come in two different smaller sizes to fit all your gardening needs. They have a slow growing habit, meaning that they are able to provide a feature for your garden for years to come should they be planted in the ground, without reaching the potentially overwhelming size of traditional trees. Furthermore - for those of us with less of a green thumb - pot growth is perfectly a viable option, making a great choice for a decorative patio or entryway. Their unique colouring would make for a fantastic option for a landscaping tree.
These seedlings form a natural shape associated with most Christmas trees, needing very minimal pruning due to this previously mentioned slow growing habit, and their pale blue colour would look striking against a simple set of string lights, making them suited for a low effort but beautiful seasonal decor option. Their dense foliage prevents permeation by snow and ice to most of the tree, making them less susceptible to damage by frost, leaving these trees a perfect candidate for both inside and outside display.
